LATEST NEWS • SUNDAY BULLETIN
Greetings from the Pastor, Week of March 29, 2009
Today as we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Fifth Sunday of Lent, the readings center on our relationship with God. In Jeremiah, there is a new covenant with God and his people. The covenant comes with law that God has with His people. The central thought of our relationship with God is one of forgiveness. God says, “I will forgive their evildoing’s and remember their sin no more.”
Liturgical Readings, March 29, 2009

But God gradually becomes an inner voice assuring us that we are loved and guiding us in the ways that we should go.SECOND READING- Hebrews 5:7-9Jesus, as God’s Son, was subject to God’s laws and was obedient. Choosing God
In His words and deeds, Jesus revealed that choosing God means caring for one another, showing mercy and justice, forgiving one another. In other words, choosing God means we are willing to face the same challenges Jesus faced: Sacrificing self, letting go of what we hold most dear. Jesus loved life. He did not want to die, yet he chose to die. And that decision, that choice “for God” has sent
A reminder of sin
“Lent reminds us of the power that is sin and darkness, of our need for repentance and forgiveness. It is a time to remember Christ's suffering and to remember that Christ continues to suffer today in the faces of the poor, the sick, the neglected, and the persecuted in our world.” Fr Gerald Curry, S.F.M.
Greetings from the Pastor, Week of March 22, 2009
As we move on in our Lenten Journey, we come to the mid point of this time of renewal and repentance. It is a good time for us to see how much penance we have done and to gauge the progress and access how much farther we have to go. This week the readings for the Fourth Sunday of Lent contain much mercy given to us by God in various ways. The first

Almsgiving
The journey to Easter continues. We pray, we fast, we give alms. Almsgiving is a key part of Lenten growth. We “give up” some comfort ourselves and turn it into money or other necessities for people who need them. Almsgiving should cost us something: a routine pleasure like morning coffee and a doughnut, an evening's entertainment, the time it takes to walk instead of hailing a cab, the extra
Greetings from the Pastor, Week of March 15, 2009
Today we gather together to celebrate the Mass for the Third Sunday of Lent. Sometime each Lent we have a Sunday in which we are reminded of our relationship with God by enumerating the Ten Commandments. If we boil down this relationship to God and neighbor, then we include our relationship first to God and then to our neighbor. Remember Jesus has told us that the two great commandments are; “To

"STEWARDSHIP”
“You shall not covet” is perhaps a difficult commandment to keep in our consumer society. But as Christian stewards, we know that we are the recipients and caretakers of God’s many gifts. May this understanding that all is gift, help us be less resentful of the gifts of others.
